Waggle Dance at the DANscienCE Festival
National Science Week is held every year in mid August. It’s a celebration of everything science and something we’ve always looked forward to. I have to say, it’s fantastic to see hexagons as the themed background on the Science Week website. National Science Week has always been “a thing” in our family and when our children were younger we would take them out of school to attend as many events as we could. We’ve made volcanoes, done fossil hunts and been thoroughly entertained by Tim The Yowie Man. It was a delight to be invited by Victoria from Flourish Communication to one of the opening events this year. Last night we attended the launch of the DANscience Festival at the Discovery Centre at the CSIRO. The Festival will continue until the 18th August, and you can find more information by clicking here.
We arrived just in time to see the opening spectacular…
Can you imagine our excitement when we realised bees had a starring role in the pollinator dance and were recognised as critical to our food security…
I was so mesmerised and enchanted by the performance that I could hardly function to take photos !
I hope I’ve captured enough to show you how fantastic it was.
Afterwards, I was hoping for an encore and when I realised there was no encore I madly chased after what looked like a swarm to me, hoping to capture one of the buzzy bees. I was absolutely delighted that this little bee stood still for me
The launch of the DANscienCE Festival continued on for another hour or so. It was awe inspiring to watch science interpreted through dance.
Thank you to all involved – its was a fabulous evening. We went home buzzing after seeing bees star in the DANscieNC Festival
